2. Ask some students what they think the word ever means in the question, Have you ever been to an aquarium?
Help the ss understand that it means at some indefinite time in the past, possibly a year ago, possibly several years ago. Contrast that sentence with this sentence without the word ever: Did you go to the aquarium on Saturday? This sentence is asking about one specific time in the past.
